Mathioya Constituency youths take Gitugi-Njumbi-Mioro Road contractor Head-on.
Youths from Mathioya constituency drawn from various sectors in the area last Saturday took head on the Nyoro Construction Company to ensure the contractor who was contracted close to four years ago doesn’t get into woods once again.
This is after a long public outcry from Mathioya constituency residents in Muranga County realized the tricks and inconsequential back and forth games that the contractor has been into instead of completing his work on Gitugi-Njumbi-Mioro road.
The road is among the area economic basket infrastructure.
Additionally, It is now taking another turn since the youths within the locality have decided to monitor and inspect the construction works on a one on one spectacle after realizing laxity on the road works.
Last Saturday, they took upon themselves and visited the workers on site to push on the matter.
They were spotted within the area in the construction site regalia alongside live saver jackets indicating their demands from the contractor.
The construction of the road was expected to be completed in February 2015 has not seen the light for the residents to make use of it despite the fact that it’s now a year behind the schedule.
Area residents have recently been up in arms over what they have termed as a deliberate slow down construction of the road by the contractor and their constant cry has been falling on deaf ears.
Surprisingly, not a single kilometer of the road has been tarmacked and the area residents now need to take upon the responsibility of overseeing the entire process on a daily despite the fact that it is not there responsibility.
Already, Ksh.2.4 billion has been allocated for completion of the work by the national government.
