The pope is already in Kenya. He landed at JKIA this evening with a high level of excitement filling the entire large mass of people who had arrived to welcome him.
He was received by the Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta. Security was tight as journalists and other dignitaries of high profile struggled to take a glimpse of him.
The pontiff leads more than a billion faithful’s who are staunch catholic. His presence in Kenya means catholic faithful’s from neighboring countries will travel to Kenya to come and attend a mass which is significantly important to the members of the denomination.
The pontiff will skip Tanzania but this isn’t a big deal since as some view it in them, it’s not a big deal, they will travel to Kenya anyway.
Tanzanians are off from elections mood but the pontiff’s presence in the Eastern African region is religiously important to them.
The media publicity the pope is receiving in the neighboring East African nation similar to the one Kenyans have given him.
Pope is currently holding a high level closed door meeting with the Kenyan head of state accompanied by his family.
Popes visit to Kenya marks his first stop in African soil bearing in mind he has not visited any other African nation since he became the pontiff.
The pope is expected to speak on various issues affecting the world. He is expected to speak on peace which is critical in this region, religious tolerance, environmental conservation and many other important issues affecting Africa and the world.
Among those invited to meet the pope in his Kenyan visit is retired president Mwai Kibaki, Daniel Arap Moi among other high profile dignitaries.
A point to note is that Kenya has hosted a number of high profile world leaders including Barack Obama this year something that is showing the immense support the world has been offering this taunted East African economic giant over this period that Al-shabaab has been a great threat since Kenya entered Somalia to flush them out in the aftermath of a series of kidnappings and other terrorist related threats.
