Interior security PS, Dr Karanja Kibicho, joined Kirinyaga woman representative, Wangui Ngirici for an interactive session in Mwea constituency where they engaged the locals on the upcoming Madaraka day celebrations slated for 20th October.
Being a campaign season, this move by the two leaders raised eyebrows among the political pundits. The two belong to two different camps; Wangui Ngirici is a diehard supporter of William Ruto while Kibicho is a close ally of president Uhuru Kenyatta. This being the season for political alignments and formations, a lot of questions were raised from this meeting.
However, speaking during that event, Karanja Kibicho said that he is aware that a lot of speculations will be made after his association with Ngirici. He added that the meeting was not a political meeting but rather a unity meeting and that’s why there was a slogan ‘Kirinyaga Kwanza’.
“I know a lot of things will be said today. Some will say that I have come to woo Ngirici to join Uhuru’s camp. Others will say that I’m on my way to joining UDA party. But I’m telling you to ignore all those rumors. We are here to preach unity ahead of Madaraka day celebrations,” said Kibicho.
He also added that he will not be vying for the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat as some people have been saying.
“Some people have been saying that I want to vie for the governor seat. That’s not true. Andrew Ngirici is my friend and I’m not ready to compete with his wife. I’m focusing on the work that Uhuru has given me and I have no interest in politics,” added the PS.
