Jubilee and the Orange Democratic Movement Party plans to have former Prime Minister Raila Odinga rule for only 5 years until 2027 has been disclosed as details emerge who will take over.
In a report via the Nation, it has been established that the ODM party is planning to sign a post-election coalition deal to ensure that there is an agreement before they support Odinga’s statehouse bid.
A high-ranking member of the Jubilee party has informed that “A draft agreement, the framework agreement has been finalized and it has been taken upstairs to the party leaders of Jubilee and ODM.”
“The ball is actually in their court to determine whether they want some changes in that framework and when we can sign it,” the Jubilee official has added.
The ongoing coalition agreement talks between Jubilee and ODM have been confirmed by Raila Odinga’s spokesman Dennis Onyango, and who has verified that already they have received the agreements.
Sources have also disclosed that in the Coalition Agreement, the Jubilee has proposed that if they agree to support Raila Odinga in the year 2022, then they must be given a chance to propose a running mate who will be from the ruling party.
It has also been established that there is also a strong push to have former Prime Minister Raila Odinga serve for one term, then pave the way to younger blood.
The revelation is a reiteration to Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe past statement where he had said that,
“We think it’s time Kenyans rewarded the years of struggle of Raila Amollo Odinga. They owe it to him. It’s like Mandela, and 2022 will be a Mandela Moment. And we would also like to tell him (Raila) to be a transitional president who will then nurture the young generation to take over in 2027,” Murathe earlier said.
