According to the recently signed Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) of 2021 between unions and TSC, some of teacher transfers which were done early will be reversed will reversed so as to bring the separated teachers families together.
The commission also agreed to consider requests for transfer of couples who are teachers in order to promote and improve family values.
The Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) Secretary-General Collins Oyuu, said that this is one of major gains in the CBA though it lacks money gains. He emphasized that implementation of this deal will reunite families that were separated by transfers.
On the other hand the counterparts, the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) Secretary-General Akelo Misori said that reuniting families will be a great achievement and some of these teachers who are nearing retirement will get opportunity to come close to their families
Initially the TSC was carrying out delocalization as been part of the government’s policies to enhance national cohesion and boost professionalism and commitment in the teaching profession.And this greatly affected the Secondary school heads.
