The 2022 TSC training for secondary school teachers on Competency-Based Curriculum, CBC officially kicked off on 9th May with each school being represented y six teachers chosen from every department.
This is a crucial nationwide exercise aimed at preparing teachers in secondary schools for the full rollout of the new CBC curriculum in secondary schools now the current grade six learners are set to join junior secondary in January 2023.
The Teachers Service Commission, TSC, has established travel allowances compensation, and meal rates for Curriculum Support Officers, CSO, teachers, and head teachers attending the course.
During the training, every participant will be reimbursed for travel expenses to and fro as per prevailing fares up to a maximum of 1000 shillings for CSO and 800 shillings for the champions
Further, TSC indicated that training institutions are expected to provide venue and meals at 400 shillings per day for 3 days and stationery at 100 shillings. According to TSC, the master trainers, whose training will be strictly residential, will be paid 3000 shillings per day for accommodation.
Equally, every teacher shall be reimbursed 300 shillings per day to cater for travel expenses. Each CSO and CBC champion shall be aided 1000 shillings as facilitation allowances for the day for five days.
Common lunch shall be provided at 400 shillings per day for every participant and facilitator for five days. Another 100 per participant has been provided for stationary.
There is a payment for fuel of 5000 shillings per vehicle for a maximum of two vehicles per county and three vehicles for counties hosting the regional directors.
They will be given a lunch allowance up to a maximum of 1,500 shillings per day and shall be paid for five days to the Regional Director County Directors, two drivers, and county accounts. The amount shall be paid as per the prevailing rates per job group.
For online training, they will be given a data bundle allowance of 1000 shillings per day. Each school has submitted a list of six Trainers, drawn from each academic department.
